after- putting it into black and white the choosing a colour to add a little colour to the picture
|

It was my first time on photoshop but it was easy to understand how to have different effect.
This novel is about five teenagers aged thirteen and they promised to
return to the school where they had hidden a memory box five years later; after
this years passed by there way only four people still left in the group as
sadly something happen to their friend Millie which had stomach cancer, the
remaining four nervously went to find the box, worried about what their
thirteen year old selves might reveal about who they are now, but it brings
back a memory when their friend Millie was still alive.
The stand-out character for me is Alix who has no problems with being
gay, but is still nervous about revealing the fact to the other three. Well,
actually, it's not three: it's four because Zara has brought her boyfriend,
Ash, along with her - he has a car and they're going on somewhere later - and
this elicits Dean's gloriously inappropriate comment as he looks at Ash: Millie's
changed. That probably tells you most of what you need to know about Dean.
At first you wonder how such diverse people could ever have melded into a group
of friends, but as you see them interact there's a glimpse of the people they
were and how the whole was more than the sum of the parts.
Non Pratt is brilliant at bringing
teenagers off the page: there are no fancy devices or contrived scenes - they
just are and it takes a lot of skill to do that. Pratt has a distinctive
voice and it's one that teens recognize. It was obvious in Trouble and Remix and
it's great to see it again in her debut book for Barrington Stoke. Why is the
publisher important? Well, Barrington Stoke produces books which are dyslexia
friendly and they'll also help reluctant readers.

a review from James
Surowiecki-
"In the summer of 1976, Kermit Washington was in trouble. He was a power forward in the N.B.A., and had just finished his third season with the L.A. Lakers. He had been a highly touted player coming out of American University, where he averaged twenty points and twenty rebounds a game and was a second-team All-American. But with the Lakers his performance had been less than mediocre. The problem was that Washington didn’t know how to play basketball all that well. He had picked up the game late (in high school, he’d warmed the bench), and never learned the skills necessary to thrive as a big man in the N.B.A. In college, Washington’s size (he was six feet eight) and athleticism had allowed him to dominate other players, who were typically smaller and weaker. But in the pros, where most players were big and strong, Washington’s lack of skill caught up with him. By his third season, his playing time had diminished sharply, and he feared that his career was on the line."
Kate Moross is a
designer, illustrator and art director based in London. She has been profiled
in Grafik Magazine, dazed and confused, vice magazine and creative review, who
selected her for a creative future award in 2007.
At the age twenty six
she has achieved a prominent position in the world of designing. She is
currently the art director of studio Moross. Her design follow certain pattern
such as three sided shapes, illegible typography and she is fond of freeform
lettering.
In this art work she uses different range of bight colours that are bold and put into bubble writing, some of the writing is in different font to make some stand out more to the audience, this work is about music artists that she knows are is a fan of, I chose to write about the piece of work is because it is very creative and I find it really interesting on how she uses so much font in bubble writing |
when she was at
university she got asked by cadburys to make a poster as they liked her work so she created this. This art work has two basic colours but they are bold and have a really creative font, I am a big fan of this piece of work as it looks like the actual cover of the bar. This is a very popular piece of work that people might seen before.
In her work she uses
colourful writing and drawings, people like her work as it might relate to them
in a way and they can be amazed by the way she creates the work that she does,
she is a very busy person with the record deal that she created with her
earning with her work. Kate always making time to put on her own solo shows and
give some "sit-up-in-your-seat" quoted by her portfolio
On her portfolio is has a
shop where you can buy her work that she has created this is so people can buy
her work that they think that is amazing.
Kate Moross has worked on
advertising campaigns for Cadbury, capsule collections for Top Shop, watches
for Firetrap and illustrations for Vogue. Her distinctive graphic style plays
with bold colours, three-sided shapes, puzzles, illegible typography and

been going and also how much it has changed since she has signed a record label.
" I am gay and i love colour" quoted by Kate Moross. |

said by Kate Moross: " it should blow your mind s little bit".
use of colour: the use of colours within her work is
light, bright, bold colours, the font within these art pieces are in bubble
writing but in a different style so it makes it better to make changes to her
work so it doesn't look the same and she used different bubble writing that
follows the word that she writes in the font.
uses of imagery: the use of imagery is colourful and
matches her personality which seeing her work it shows she is a very strong
women that cares about what she does and shows passion within her work
The most successful art work is the Cadburys advert poster
as it has a lot of views and it is everywhere when Cadbury is advertising the
chocolate.
TASK 2
my ideas for the
assignment of a bookmark and came up with 3 draft ideas with different
materials such as pen, ink and pencil . I have drawn these because the book is
about a girl that dies and they make a time capsule to go back to the summer
when she was alive and the grave is for the girl that died in this book
|

Evaluation-
- I made my book mark by using paper at first to do my drafts and made a choice on what design i wanted to use with my final piece, i chose to do the time capsule as it was a strong idea for me to use as a bookmark. I used illustrator as i knew how to use most of the tools, and I found it easy to use when creating my design on the computer however is didn't respond very well as it didn't load what i wanted to use maybe ill use photoshop next to as it might make my work stronger, I used the galaxy as i thought it was applying to use as its a time capsule therefore there going back in time. Within my design i added a 3D effect to make it more effective, but when i put my text on the design you can't really see it properly. The tools i used where shape to to make my capsule and a 3D effect. Use of colour is the background is colourful and the text is black to stand out on the design.
