Task 7

Timeline
Paul set a phone case assignment, first we choose a genre of music to start off the process for the phone case, mine was pop so i used a photoshop software as it is quick and easy to create different shapes for the design that I created. The colours that where used was basic colour: black, pink, red, these colours I used are some of the popular colours people might like or see on a design. I researched the theme pop and helped me created this design with adding the musicians, speakers, microphone, stars to fill in the spaces, music notes to represent the theme.

Throughout this assignment the next step was to design a phone case of your chosen musician, I picked Ed sheeran for my phone case, researched information about him to balance out my ideas for this phone case design, then sketched out ideas that might appeal to the audience for this musician and what they would like to see on the phone case about Ed Sheeran. By sketching out my design it helped me with the process for this assignment and how to improve the designs on the software. With the three design i choose one that i felt more confident with using which was the shape of Ed Sheeran hair and the colour of his hair to give a symbol of what Ed Sheeran, then i added a music quote from one of his recent albums which was Divide and picked the N1 song that was in the charts. I created my phone case design of photoshop software as I know how to make the phone case and the design that I wanted to be on this phone case, creating the shapes with the pen tool to make the hair however it was quite hard to get the right shape for his hair and make it the same as my sketched design. The next step I did was used the texted tool to type the quote with a bold font and the colour black, to give me a guide I made the shape of the phone case to helped me to place the shapes and writing in the right place and that it would look like a phone case for when I covered it into a JPG so i could upload it to MrNutCase.com, to upload this phone case I clicked on iPhone 6 personalised phone case to start creating it for advising, to upload my design i created clicking on browse and find it in my files saved Phone Case, screenshot the design in the format of the phone case to uploaded it to my blog.

Task 6
EVALUATION

Use of colour: for my phone case I use bold colours like blue and pink to make it appealing to both gender, making it different colours makes it professional as the audience might like the phone case in different colours. The use of the light blue makes the phone case more shinny because of the metallic appeal to the phone case.
Use of text: the choice of text was a bold font for the musician  (Ed Sheeran) it was big and font size 16 to make it clearer to see and hits the target audience. The quote written on the phone case underneath is in a Times New Roman, making the phone case more interesting by using this type of font on the phone case on the quote making it more surprising and better for the target audience.

Use of imagery: the theme appeals well with my idea as the phone case is a symbol of Ed Sheeran's hair and colour. I choose to pick this design is there's a hidden mystery because it got Ed Sheeran on the phone case but people might now actually know what his hair use to look like when he first started singing so really it’s a background history of the musician.

Tools and techniques used: the software I used was photoshop because I was quite confidence using this software as I know where the tools where, I used the line tool to create the hair, the paint bucket tool for the background and highlighted the hair to give the hair a different colour making sure the hair stood out when it was formed as a phone case. First making the design I hand draw the design with 3 ideas then choose the one I perfered out of them all, then the finally design planned out well, however next time maybe I'd like to make the hair more identical to the hair Ed Sheeran has now.

task 5

I advertised my phone case on twitter to try getting my phone case noticed.

phone case designs

design 1- i have chosen to draw a paw print as he has one on the side of his guitar, also it represents ed sheeran and its a tattoo of his on his arm, the use of colour for the first design was green background as green is his favourite colour and it goes well with the orange paw print, on the paw print it has the different albums that he has bring out since he became a musician

design 2- this divide sign is one of his latest albums made by ed sheeran and in the middle it has a part of a lyric to his Galway girl song, however on my design the black pen ran out so i decided to use orange to symbolise his hair colour.

design 3- the hair is to represent his hair and the hair is red because he is ginger, this last design has a silver background however i don't want to use it if this was my finally design id make sure there is different colour designs to make it appealing to the audience interested in buying my phone case.

task 2 self directed artist research

All there illustrations created a story and imagery for the audience, there is a illustration called 'nobody could hear it', this title explains why there is people in a cube with different strange objects, maybe the people are in the picture to ignore the creatures surrounding them.

I used these objects in my design because it follows the pop theme and I put the singers that sing in the genre with music notes and a play button as it refers to listening to music, adding the colour makes it more effective to look at and the tools i used where the pencil tool and shape tool so i can form the shapes shown it the picture.

today i sketched my ideas for the assignment of a bookmark and came up with 3 draft ideas with different materials such as pen, ink and pencil . I have drawn these because the book is about a girl that dies and they make a time capsule to go back to the summer when she was alive and the grave is for the girl that died in this book

a review from James Surowiecki-

"In the summer of 1976, Kermit Washington was in trouble. He was a power forward in the N.B.A., and had just finished his third season with the L.A. Lakers. He had been a highly touted player coming out of American University, where he averaged twenty points and twenty rebounds a game and was a second-team All-American. But with the Lakers his performance had been less than mediocre. The problem was that Washington didn’t know how to play basketball all that well. He had picked up the game late (in high school, he’d warmed the bench), and never learned the skills necessary to thrive as a big man in the N.B.A. In college, Washington’s size (he was six feet eight) and athleticism had allowed him to dominate other players, who were typically smaller and weaker. But in the pros, where most players were big and strong, Washington’s lack of skill caught up with him. By his third season, his playing time had diminished sharply, and he feared that his career was on the line."

when she was at university she got asked by cadburys to make a
poster as they liked her work so she created this. This art work has two basic colours but they are bold and have a really creative font, I am a big fan of this piece of work as it looks like the actual cover of the bar. This is a very popular piece of work that people might seen before.
In this art work she uses different range of bight colours that are bold and put into bubble writing, some of the writing is in different font to make some stand out more to the audience, this work is about music artists that she knows are is a fan of, I chose to write about the piece of work is because it is very creative and I find it really interesting on how she uses so much font in bubble writing

In her work she uses colourful writing and drawings, people like her work as it might relate to them in a way and they can be amazed by the way she creates the work that she does, she is a very busy person with the record deal that she created with her earning with her work. Kate always making time to put on her own solo shows and give some "sit-up-in-your-seat" quoted by her portfolio

On her portfolio is has a shop where you can buy her work that she has created this is so people can buy her work that they think that is amazing.

Kate Moross has worked on advertising campaigns for Cadbury, capsule collections for Top Shop, watches for Firetrap and illustrations for Vogue. Her distinctive graphic style plays with bold colours, three-sided shapes, puzzles, illegible typography and freeform lettering

quote said by Kate Moross: " it should blow your mind s little bit".

cover she created she Disclosure

use of colour: the use of colours within her work is light, bright, bold colours, the font within these art pieces are in bubble writing but in a different style so it makes it better to make changes to her work so it doesn't look the same and she used different bubble writing that follows the word that she writes in the font.

uses of imagery: the use of imagery is colourful and matches her personality which seeing her work it shows she is a very strong women that cares about what she does and shows passion within her work

The most successful art work is the cadburys advert poster as it has a lot of views and it is everywhere when Cadbury is advertising the chocolate.
